The August Designer Profile showcasing the talent of New Zealand patchwork quilting pattern designer Desiree Simpson was sent out yesterday and is an interesting read for all the creative souls out there. The Free Pattern page has been undated with some lovely flower applique designs and fionamarie.com has a couple of Desiree Simpson patterns to give away in a prize draw. You will need to read the profile to find out more.
So far I have had 24 stitchers pre-register for The Great Global Christmas Swap and it is growing all the time. Here are the current statistics:
New Zealand - 10, United States - 7, United Kingdom - 2, Australia - 2, Norway - 1, Germany - 1, Denmark - 1.
Yesterday I started a new project making up Block 2 of the Playing with Angels BOM pattern set by Kookaburra Cottage. I am making it into a large cushion to give to my youngest daughter for Christmas. I am pretty sure she doesn't read my blog so here is a sneak peek of the colours and fabric. It is made using fusible applique and I have cut it all out and ironed it in place but haven't started the blanket stitching yet that will make it come alive. I will do little bits during the day while she is at School.
I am also working on the Shoe Sale embroidery that is the main feature of Block four in The Gingham Girls quilt and hopefully will have this to show you after the weekend...although the house really does need a good tidy and clean and as you know not a lot gets done when you are on a stitching mission.
The next update for September that I will be starting to work on soon will include a couple of exciting new pattern sets. I am going to add Hugs n Kisses 'T'was the night before Christmas' and Teddlywinks 'Sew Busy Bears' that has been requested by a prolific sounding stitcher called Clare in Otane, New Zealand. Here is a look at 'T'was the night before Christmas'. It is another Redwork beauty.
